Last of new trams arrives in Nottingham
The last of 22 new Citadis trams has arrived in Nottingham, marking another important milestone in the expansion of the city's tram network.
Terence Watson, Alstom UK President, said: “We’re delighted to have delivered the final Citadis for Nottingham, especially as the Citadis trams, which have been specially customised in the distinct and stylish NET tram brand, are becoming a more common sight on the city’s streets. “The process of testing the Citadis and getting them into service is going extremely well and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the city.”
Five of the vehicles are already operating on Line One, helping to deliver a more frequent service since the introduction of an enhanced timetable during the summer. The remainder are set to enter service on completion of the expanded network and people along the new lines to Chilwell and Clifton will soon start to see them as part of the testing and commissioning programme. Councillor Jane Urquhart, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transport at Nottingham City Council, also joined in the celebrations to mark the tram’s arrival.
